Sole system administrator and IT technician. Built production site using RHEL4 and Centos4 on Dell hardware (850, 6650, 2850, 2950). Glimpse.com is a java application running on Tomcat 5.5.20 which used Endeca IAP 4.2 as a search engine, and Oracle 9i on RHEL4. All machines were configured with raid5, with critical data on raid10. The Application servers and search engines were load balanced using F5 BigIp (ver 4.2) and the entire site was situated behind a Cisco PIX firewall which I took over from a contracted 3rd party. I also handled all production code releases with detailed instruction from lead development. All office IT responsibilities were mine as well, including office network and internet, laptop and desktop assignment, and asset tracking. All datacenter responsibilities were handled by me as well, including power management, remote management using Dell BMC and IPMI, server racking and networking. All other supporting technologies (mail, DNS, intranet, etc) were my responsibility as well.
System Administrator, Network Engineering, Technical Support and Data Center Maintenance. Built customer machines using Intel based hardware, using FreeBSD, Linux (redhat, debian, gentoo), and Windows. Created weekly router configuration backup system. Handled all customer support calls, trouble tickets and abuse resolution. Worked on network upgrade and expansion in a mulithomed eBGP/iBGP/OSPF environment using Cisco 12008s/7500/3600/4003/4006 and Juniper M7s. GigE, 10/100 ethernet OC12, OC3, DS3, DS1 circuit turnups, BGP, Ospf, 802.1q troubleshooting. Worked with peering fabrics, communities and route maps. Also created an in house customer and IP allocation database using MySQL (later converted to Postgres) with a simple PHP web interface. I also understand ethernet EIA/TIA wiring standards.
Lead Sysadmin for Homestore's Brokernet project. Built and maintained production, staging, development and demo environments using Solaris 7/8, Apache, Weblogic 5.1, Epicentric Foundation Server, and Oracle 8i on Sun hardware. Also maintained administration servers running Linux and FreeBSD. Acted as Release Engineer. Managed staging and production code releases by insuring proper acceptance from QA and Development teams. Helped build scripts for automated inter-department data transfer. Worked with Veritas Netbackup and Spectralogic tape libraries. Installed Veritas volume manager and cluster server.
Responsible for creating official builds, supporting development and QA departments, deployment of food.com application into dev, qa, staging and production environments. Managed Perforce source control software used to store food.com application source code. Installed and configured the java application server (jboss/tomcat/apache). Created a more automated build process to avoid human error. Also created scripts and wrappers to insure site uptime. Application was deployed on win2k, linux and solaris platforms. Assisted in QA and IT troubleshooting. Mediated communication between QA, software development and IT.
Network Systems Engineer. Responsible for network design, rollout and server building. Used FreeBSD (mainly), Solaris 7/8 and Linux (2.2.X, 2.4.X). Troubleshooting of Realaudio streaming, Apache and Weblogic servers. Familiar with Network Appliance, OnTap 5.2.X and 6.0.X, volume management and recovery procedures. Built multi-homed colocation site using Cisco 12000's, 3600's, 2900's, BGP (external and internal), OSPF, gigabit production lan and 10/100 management lan. Server load balancing using Foundry Server irons and Bigiron 8000's. XML data manipulation using Perl. Web based router reporting using PHP. FreeBSD and some Solaris kernel tuning. Administered Cisco PIX firewall.
Senior Network Engineer. Responsible for testing and approval of all DSLAM code and hardware prior to network rollout. Tested and approval of all new DSL CPE. Designed and maintained DLCI and VPI/VCI numbering for nationwide network. Testing of DSLAM NMS. Helped to maintain a test lab environment. Third tier support for NOC and TAC. Responsible for new DSLAM evaluation and selection. Also worked with Lucent AC120 MUX and Cascade ATM switches. Won award for frame relay to ATM network conversion.
Dial-Up assistant. Responsible for all modem dialup equipment, monitoring, installation, and accounting systems. Dial-Up server and router configuration and installation. PC assembly and installation of OS's. Also worked with colocation buildout. Helped install redundant power system for colocation facitlity, including UPS.
